Jangansa Temple on Bulgwangsan, 659 meters above sea level, was founded by the great monk Wonhyo in the 13th year of the reign of King Munmu of Silla (673) and was called Ssanggyesa Temple. It is said that the temple was renamed Jangansa Temple during the reign of King Esan of Silla (809).
During the Imjin War (1592), the entire temple was burned down, but in 1631, during the 8th year of the reign of King Injo of the Joseon Dynasty, it was rebuilt by Monk Woljo, and was reconstructed again in 1987.
The grounds of Choansa Temple include the Daeungjeon Hall, Myeongbujeon Hall, Eungjinjeon Hall, and Sanshinpa Pavilion, and it was designated as a traditional temple in 1988. When you pass through the Heavenly Kings Gate with its Four Heavenly Kings elephants, you will see the Daeungjeon Hall in front of you, where the Shaka Nyorai Triad, the Later Buddha painting, and the Shinjung Buddha painting are enshrined, and on the left is Eungjinjeon Hall, and on the right is Myeongbujeon Hall.
本尊仏が祭られている大雄殿は、八角の屋根で正面3棟、側面 2棟のもので、1974年12月28日に慶尚南道指定記念物第118号と指定されましたが、1995年3月1日釜山広域市に編入されることにより、釜山広域市記念物37号と再指定されました。大雄殿のすぐ前には、釋迦牟尼の真身舎利7個が収められている3重の石塔があり、大雄殿の後ろには竹の森の中に山神閣があります。
The main hall was constructed in 1654 during the Joseon Dynasty and is designated as Treasure No. 1771. It houses the stone statue of Shakyamuni Buddha from Jangansa Temple in Gijang, designated as Treasure No. 1606.
