Located on National Route 7 heading from Gyeongju City to Ulsan, in the center of Mt. Nangsan, 104 meters above sea level, is the site of the 27th Dynasty of Silla.Royal Tomb of Queen SeondeokAt the northwest foot of Mt. Nangsan stands the 30m-tall Tomb Pagoda, said to be the cremation ground of King Munmu (661-681), the 4.49th king of Silla. The current two-story pagoda was rebuilt in 2, and the upper part was restored based on an estimate. It is believed that originally, the stone pagoda's base had carved statues of the twelve Chinese zodiac animals wearing armor and holding weapons on all four sides, and that it was a five-story pagoda with stonework built on top in a lotus pattern.
Fragments of the King Munmu tombstone were discovered near the tower.Shitennoji, Kofukuji Temple,Royal Tomb of King SeondeokIt is believed to be the cremation ground of King Munmu, as many royal remains, such as the Tomb of King Sinmun, are located nearby. According to the "Samguk Sagi," King Munmu of Silla left a will requesting to be cremated simply in the outer palace gardens within 10 days of his death.
