Daereungwon (Cheonmachong)


The Daereungwon area in Gyeongju is home to the ancient tombs of royal families and aristocrats from the Silla period, as well as Silla ruins, and Gyeongju Hwangnidangil is lined with cafes and restaurants popular with young people.

As you get off at Gyeongju Intercity Bus Terminal and enter downtown Gyeongju, you will see a mountain of large ancient tombs. These are the ancient tombs unique to Silla, belonging to the royal family and aristocrats of the Silla period, standing majestically as if they were occupying the city of Gyeongju.

Gyeongju's tourist attraction is the Cheonmachong Tomb, and there is also the Daereungwon Memorial Hall, which is home to 23 large and small ancient tombs, and there are seven Silla ruins in the surrounding area.

Another new tourist spot that is gaining attention is Gyeongju Hwangnidangil, located about 700 meters west of the Cheonmachong section of the tomb, and lined with trendy cafes and restaurants popular with young people.
