Jinhae Myeongdong Japanese Fortress, located near the Solar Tower Observatory at Changwon Marine Park, overlooking Geojedo Island, was built by leveling the 80m-high peak of the mountain behind Myeongdong and using natural stone to construct the rectangular main fortress. The fortress is 365m in circumference and 1-2m in height. Two rectangular stone towers were built on the east and west sides of the fortress, and two square stone towers were built on a peak 2m north of the fortress from which the fortress can be viewed.

It is said to have been built by Matsuura Shigenobu in 1593 (the 26th year of King Seonjo's reign), but there are also claims that it was built by So Yoshitoshi, who was the son-in-law of Konishi Yukinaga, the lord of Tsushima Island at the time.
